CURT tow bars enable you to flat tow, or dinghy tow, a vehicle behind your RV when traveling on family trips. Our car tow bars allow you to safely tow a vehicle behind your RV for extended distances, which gives you the freedom of having a spare vehicle once you reach your destination.
In order to flat tow, your dinghy vehicle will first need a tow bar which has two long arms and attaches the dinghy vehicle to the RV hitch receiver. The tow bar moves side to side allowing for smooth towing and turning without binding.
You will also need to ensure your RV has the correct hitch, tow bar and vehicle base plate combination, as each setup is different and each base plate works with specific vehicles. To select the tow bar, look up your vehicle by its year, make and model to ensure the vehicle weight is within the tow bar capacity. If you are flat towing with a dolly, a base plate and tow bar will not be needed.
Your RV will also need a receiver in order to dinghy tow. When flat towing a vehicle, the receiver hitch height must be within 3 inches of the tow bar base plate. This ensures the tow bar is close to level with the ground.
