Base Plates

Flat towing is an efficient method for transporting an extra vehicle while camping. CURT provides the essential accessories for this type of towing, including the tow bar base plate, tow bars and hitches necessary to enable you to tow a vehicle behind your camper. 

To flat tow, the dinghy vehicle requires a tow bar, which connects the vehicle to the RV receiver through the tow plate. The tow bar has two arms and pivots for smooth towing and maneuvering. You can also use a tow dolly for dinghy towing. 

Every RV needs towing base plates tailored to flat tow your specific vehicle. To select the right one, look up the year, make, and model of your vehicle. Note that tow bar brackets are not necessary if you're using a tow dolly. 

Additionally, your RV must have a receiver to flat tow. The receiver hitch height must be close to the tow bar base plate, with a maximum difference of 3 inches. To ensure safe towing, the dinghy vehicle also requires a dinghy harness to synchronize its lights with the RV.
