The universal tri-ball trailer coupler lock is engineered to be the ultimate in trailer towing security. It is highly theft-resistant and tamper-resistant, featuring built-in safety measures to keep your trailer safe. It offers security, whether your trailer is hitched up to your vehicle or left parked and unattended.
This unique coupler lock has a lasso lanyard that is key-operated. It allows the trailer lock to be used while towing a trailer, keeping the latch locked in place. It can also be used in tandem with the triple ball to fully secure the coupler when the trailer is parked.
The tri-ball is constructed from high-strength, glass-filled polymer. This blend of materials is exceptionally durable, and the orange color increases visibility to further deter tampering. The tri-ball lock fits all three industry-standard coupler and ball sizes: 1-7/8", 2" and 2-5/16".

About a month ago, I received the Curt Tri-Ball Coupler Lock to try and post a review. I posted the review on the Lipert Scouts Facebook group. At that time, I stated the lock was a very good product and well worth the price. Since I previously only had a padlock on the coupler latch, the Tri-Ball provided a better level of security by completely blocking the coupler. Since then, I have read reviews questioning the integrity of the lock pin. There was even a video of someone breaking off the pin simply by bending it at the grooves which appears to be its weak point. I posted a second review on the Lippert Scouts Facebook group page today showing where I have removed the pin, lock, and cable from the Tri-Ball. I kept the Tri-Ball in the coupler but secured it with my original padlock. I think that the ball unit itself is a great product, but using a padlock is more secure. Packaging
Box arrived without any damage and contents were neatly in place inside. However, there was an inch or two between the product and the box lid, which could lend itself to getting banged around a bit if shipping was rough. Amazon usually packs those extra spaces with the light, inflatable air bags. Ultimately, I don't see this as an issue but wanted to call it out.
Unboxing and Instructions
Unraveling the twist ties was fun and it makes sense why they are in place, but one of the twist ties was so tight I had to get a pair of pliers. Maybe it's because I type for a living but still... thought I'd mention it. -
This is a solid little lock for the money. A thief is going to take the route of least resistance. If one has this on their trailer and the trailer next to it does not guess which one they’ll take. If someone really wants your particular trailer this lock will only hinder them slightly, it wouldn’t take a crowbar much to snap the locking pin. That isn’t what this type of lock is for though. This one keeps an honest person honest or diverts them down the line.
