The Echo® mobile trailer brake controller is truly a brake control for the modern age. It plugs into your vehicle and wirelessly connects to your smartphone, allowing you to control and monitor all trailer brake activity right from your own device. It comes with a customizable app for Apple or Android phones, a portable design to easily switch between vehicle-trailer combinations and a durable, weather-resistant construction.
Most things in this day and age can be accessed or controlled from a smartphone. With the Echo®, that includes your trailer brakes. Echo® is powered by a Bluetooth enabled system that connects right to your smartphone. Your phone becomes the brake control monitoring unit in the cab of your vehicle. There is no need for extra modules, controls, buttons or knobs.
The Echo® mobile trailer brake controller has one of the easiest installations in the industry. It simply plugs into the standard 7-way RV blade socket at the rear of your vehicle and provides a socket to plug in the trailer harness. It Ts into the connection, going between the vehicle and trailer plugs, and it is completely non-invasive. It also features automatic calibration to help eliminate setup requirements.
The Echo® trailer brake controller comes with a custom-designed app that can be downloaded for iOS or Android OS phones. With this app, the wireless brake control is able to connect to your smartphone and display brake control settings and activity. It also sends you status updates and allows you to receive incoming calls while the app is running. Note: If Bluetooth connection is lost, the brake controller will continue to function safely, using the most recently programmed settings.
With its compact design and simple, plug-and-play installation, the Echo® is extremely portable. You can easily transfer it between vehicles and use it with multiple trailers, as long as the vehicle and trailer have a 7-way RV blade connector. The Echo® Smart Control app allows you to store multiple vehicle-trailer profiles, making ideal for commercial fleets.
Because the Echo® mobile trailer brake controller is made to be outside the vehicle, we engineered it for maximum weather resistance. It is constructed with a potted enclosure, meaning the inside of the unit is filled with an epoxy resin that seals off the internal components from moisture and the elements. This ensures long-lasting operation in spite of rain, snow, dirt, mud and more. The Echo® also has a retention strap and locking tab for connecting to the 7-way RV blade vehicle socket. The strap and tab help maintain a strong connection, keeping the unit firmly installed.
The Echo® mobile brake controller operates using a triple-axis motion-sensing accelerometer -- an integrated circuit that produces smooth, safe stops every time. It is compatible with two to four trailer brakes (one to two axles) and can be used with low-voltage or PWM wiring systems. Echo® is also compatible with cruise control and ABS brakes and has built-in reverse-polarity protection and short-circuit protection. It is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Using on a single axle trailer on a 2019 Terrain. Setup instructions were easy to follow. Would give 5 stars but, the indicator light on the Echo is obscured from easy sight when connected and the button to hold the rubber retaining strap will easily pop out if slightly over stressed.

It is more expensive than wired controllers but better. It’s great not to have to wire in and mount a controller unit. Just plug in connect and go. You have full control and adjustment on mobile device. I am a first time travel trailer user and very happy with this. The only issue is the strap, it’s garbage, it broke in 15 miles of use the first time. Luckily I read the reviews and added a Velcro strap as backup. The Velcro strap works great thankfully. Curt should replace their strap with a Velcro strap and problem solved.

The instructions for bluetooth connecting are incomplete. They do NOT mention needing location services on... Other than that the unit seems great.

The device connects in the app and works fine.
For the app, I suggest that instead of prompting the user to select a profile on startup, the app go to the last used profile instead. That would be especially helpful when there is only one profile set up. Thanks. -
Works very well. Installed on Hyundai Santa Fe. It was the best option. Easy installation. Good instructions. You have to make sure the tie strap is well secured. I replaced the rubber strap with a velcro strap. Would highly recommend.

Good product, works as advertised. The rubber strap is crap. Fix it! It is a shame that a piece of rubber is your only black mark.

Works perfect after reading some of the reviews it seems like you coulf fix the strap problem and the concern for theft it's the only drawback. I was skepticle to begin with but with no problems changed my mind.

Brakes are jumpy at very low speeds even with the controller sensitivity set to 1. This will take some getting used to by me.
The rubber strap seems flimsy for the expensive push-on controller. The button comes off. I added a velcro strap which may help but there is nothing to prevent anyone from grabbing the controller and walking away. Given the cost of this controller, it seems reasonable to expect that it would be engineered to stay on the vehicle more securely and deter theft. -
So far so good. It does what it was built for. Took me a few days to get used to the app. The app itself is just okay. It's a little glitch. I was trying to setup several profiles in the app. Added few profiles in the controller profile tab. And now I can't delete them. Following the instructions, says to swipe left, to delete. BUT the only option that shows up is "save". When I save it, the profile doesn't show up in the application profile tab right away. The app can use some upgrades

I just received the controller. Super easy install and set up. I am concern about only a strap to protect our investment. Why not have a whole where we could have a small line for double protection? Cheers.
